Online Research

BY NYZA PIAMONTE

Online research methods (ORMs) are ways in which researchers can collect data via the internet. They are also referred to as Internet research, Internet science or iScience, or Web-based methods. Many of these online research methods are related to existing research methodologies but re-invent and re-imagine them in the light of new technologies and conditions associated with the internet. The field is relatively new and evolving. With the growth of social medias a new level of complexity and opportunity has been created. Inclusion of social media research can provide unique insights into consumer and societal segments and gaining an “emotional” measure of a population on issues of interest.

Online Selling

By: Trixie  Dela Cruz

In an increasingly digital-age it’s very rare for those with a physical product or high street presence, to not take advantage of the many channels there are to sell online. Selling a product online allows you to reach a wider audience and new customer pockets, with 41% of the world’s global internet users purchasing products online in 2014. But if it’s an area you’ve never explored, it can be overwhelming.

What are the advantages of selling online?

An online shopping facility allows customers to order and pay for your goods and services over the Internet. Advantages of online shopping include:

-Access to global markets 24 hours a day.
-Reduced overheads – the expenses of a shop are eliminated.
-Access to new customers.
-The ability to compete with larger businesses on an equal footing.
-Gives customers access to products and services not available in their area.
-Offers convenience and privacy for your customers.
-Appealing to a wide and varied base of customers. For example, online shopping allows disabled or housebound people easy shopping.

What are the disadvantages of selling online?
The main disadvantage of online shopping is

The safety and security issues. Recent media coverage has highlighted the threat of commercial websites being infiltrated by computer hackers, or credit card numbers being stolen online. Although consumers have become more relaxed about giving out their credit card details over the Internet, worries about online security issues are still seen as a major obstacle to the wider take-up of online shopping.

Other disadvantages include:

-Slow Internet speeds can make websites slow for users.
-Difficulties in delivering goods to worldwide customers.
-The customer does not receive their goods immediately.

What costs should I consider when I am preparing to sell online?

In general, the costs associated with online shopping are low, although this does depend upon the complexity of your business. Basic considerations may include:

-An online shop will need ‘shopping basket’ software to allow your customers to buy online. Using an ‘out-of-the-box’ solution can be a cheaper and less problematic option. -Alternatively, you will need to consider employing a consultant to design software to meet your particular needs.
-An online shop will require facilities for processing payments. You will have to set up a merchant account with a bank to accept credit card payments. A charge will be made for using the bank’s credit card merchant facility, which may either be a percentage of transaction values or a fixed fee.
-You must take into account the costs of registering the website with a domain name and a search engine.
-You may need to seek the help of a legal professional when setting up an online shop. Online trading is different to ‘normal’ trading, so existing contracts and terms and conditions may need to be adapted accordingly.

Pornography

BY Reggie Tumaque

Image result for pornography

Pornography is the portrayal of sexual subject matter for the exclusive purpose of sexual arousal. Pornography may be presented in a variety of media, including books, magazines, postcards, photographs, sculpture, drawing, painting, animation, sound recording, phone calls, writing, film, video, and video games.
The effects of pornography on individuals or their sexual relationships differ from person to person, and are often unclear. Pornography’s association with addiction, for example, has been studied, but pornography addiction is not an officially recognized condition. While some literature reviews suggest that pornographic images and films can be addictive, insufficient evidence exists to draw conclusions. With regard to examinations of the possible effects on domestic violence, rape and child sexual abuse, several studies conclude the liberalization of pornography in society may be associated with decreased rape and other sexual violence rates, suggest no effect, or are inconclusive.

How to Quit Porn

1. First, you must acknowledge the addiction exists. Many who are caught in the trap of addiction will adamantly deny the problem. He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion. – Proverbs 28:13

2. You must recognize that what you are doing is wrong. Addicts find a way to justify their problem in their mind. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. – I John 2:16

3. You must not blame others – “If my wife/husband were just more affectionate.” … “If women/men were not so seductive.” Adam blamed Eve and she blamed the serpent. Instead, you must begin to take responsibility for your actions.

4. Make yourself accountable to a spiritual authority, perhaps a pastor or mature believer. Everybody needs a “safe” person to share their struggles with. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. – James 5:16

5. You must recognize that “willpower” is not the answer. At a weak moment, your “will” may fail you. By admitting that you are in need of God’s help, you open access to His supernatural intervention in your life. You must yield your will to God’s will. That’s when He can begin a new work in your life.

6. Study the Word of God concerning sexual purity. Therefore putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the Word implanted, which is able to save your souls. – James 1:21

7. You must destroy any pornography in your possession. You can’t wean yourself off pornography. Think of the hidden pornography in your home as a ticking time bomb that will ultimately destroy your family and marriage.

8. You must learn to flee temptation. Self-deception may enter when you think you can play with fire without getting burned. Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not proceed in the way of evil men. Avoid it, do not pass by it. Turn away from it and pass on. – Proverbs 4:14,15

9. Give yourself time to work through the process of recovery. More often than not, God chooses to take us through a learning and growing process, that can be very painful. Victory over addiction should be viewed as a marathon, not a sprint.

10. It’s cliche, but you must approach your addiction one day at a time. Look for little victories and rejoice in the progress you’re making. Recovery is a cinch by the inch, but a trial by the mile.

Piracy

BY: OLIVER MANICAD

Image result for Piracy

It is:

the unauthorized use or reproduction of another’s work.
plural noun: piracies
“software piracy”
synonyms: illegal copying, plagiarism, copyright infringement, bootlegging

“software piracy”

Copyright Protection: End User

Although the government and the business world play an important role in preventing software piracy, it is ultimately up to the end user to decide for himself whether he wants to make illegal copies of software.

Advantages of Piracy:

There are certainly advantages to pirating software. Main benefits include:

  • Cost: pirated software costs nothing, or close to nothing, to obtain. With some consumer software packages now costing upwards of $500, the amount of money saved by pirating software is certainly not negligible.
  • Easy to Acquire: Pirated software is extremely easy to find, whether online, or sold openly in foreign countries, or simply provided by friends. In fact, in many cases, it easier for someone to go online and download an illegal copy of a software program than to drive to a store and buy it from a retailer.
  • Anonymity: Pirating software is a crime that can be committed without leaving one’s house, or even interacting with any person. Thus, it is very tempting to commit this “victimless” crime.
  • Profit: Although most software pirates do not profit directly from pirating software, the temptation to make money by selling illegal programs is strong. All one needs to become a software pirate is a CD burner, which now cost as little as $100, and the pirate’s computer can become a virtual cash cow.

The Disadvantages of Piracy

  • It is illegal: It is a federal crime to make unauthorized copies of software. People who are found guilty of the crime can be fined up to $250,000, and/or sentenced to up 5 years in prison.
  • It is risky: Pirated software is more likely to be infected with serious computer viruses, which can damage the user’s computer system.
  • It is unproductive: Most pirated software does not come with manuals or technical support that is given to legitimate users. Thus, pirates are less likely to derive as much use out of software as users who have obtained the software through legal channels. In addition, software becomes outdated rapidly Pirated software is ineligible for upgrades.

What can you do against software piracy?

  • Don’t buy illegal copies: Buy software from an authorized dealer and don’t use any program offered illegally. When purchasing software, be sure to get the genuine disks, manuals, and license documentation. Do some research on the price you can expect to get for a software package: if the deal seems too good to be true, it is probably not true. It is also important to read carefully the license agreement that comes with the software, since license agreements differ from publisher to publisher. Don’t buy software labeled “Not for Resale.” Never purchase software labeled “For Bundles Only” or “OEM Distribution” without the appropriate hardware.
  • Keep good records: Keep the original receipt and invoice of the product, which are the proof that you have purchased legal software. Furthermore, always register your product so you can get all the technical support and possible upgrade you might need in the future.
  • Don’t pirate! Don’t make copies of software, unless it is allowed by the license agreement. Don’t rent, lease, sublicense or lend the software or documentation to anyone. Don’t download illegal software from warez sites or ftp servers.
  • Don’t help others break the law: When you find out someone might be doing the wrong thing, you should make them aware of the enforcement efforts by explaining the law and providing examples of others who got caught.
  • Enforce your rights: If you discover that you might have a counterfeit copy of software, contact the dealer you bought it from. There are many online support sites you can go to in order to report suspected software piracy.

Dummy Accounts

By Dexter Delfin

Image result for dummy account

A “dummy account” can mean a variety of things, including an
account created for testing a computer system or training,
but often means an anonymous or deceptive account (possibly
paralleling the term “dummy corporation”) created for
“shady” or illegal purposes.

A suspense account, on the
other hand, is a common legitimate accounting technique for
“temporarily parking” records that need to be entered into
the system but the correct account has yet to be decided.
Whichever definition of “dummy account” is taken, if real
transactions went through such an account it would be a
worry that would need investigation.

A dummy account is thought to be associated in negative use.

Many of us thinks that dummy accounts are used in deceptive way. It is often used to deceive people that they are the one who depicts in their accounts, whereas they aren’t. It is use to fool everyone. To be someone they are not. Or to transact to false accounts. But this is only half of what it should be.

Dummy Accounts can be used too, in positive ways.

Creating a dummy account so that you can fully test your programs is very easy.  You can actually use your regular email address to create your dummy account. Many use dummy accounts so that the program will be tested better and safe. For the developing in the better use.

Image result for dummy account

Whatever reason you have to use dummy account, use it for good reasons. Deceiving is considered as fraudulent act. At the very least, no one wants to obtain obstruction in justice due to fraud. Honesty is the best policy.

Bashing (Peter Avelino)

Man Bashing
Bashing is a harsh, gratuitous, prejudicial attack on a person, group, or subject. Literally, bashing is a term meaning to hit or assault, but when it is used as a suffix, or in conjunction with a noun indicating the subject being attacked, it is normally used to imply that the act is motivated by bigotry.
Everywhere in social media, you can see bashing. Some may be used to it. But we shouldn’t actually. It is something that we need to stop in order to gain peace in online world.
Image result for Bashing
Bashing can hurt anyone. It can affect both parties. The oppressor and the oppressed. We shouldn’t use our own ability to speak freely to hurt anybody. Especially those who are not in the same thoughts like us. We need to avoid bashing someone for better experience in social media apps like Facebook, twitter, etc.
But bashing is not only in social medias. It also consist of bashing the generations. Each one of us is a part of different generations. We need to respect each and every generation in order to gain peace and respect to all.

6 Reasons to Stop Generation Bashing and Move Into a Post-Generational Era:

We are all using the same technologies to communicate.
Grandmothers and 2-year-olds are using Skype on tablets to talk to each other. The barriers of affordability, usability, and utility are disappearing. The tools that once defined generations most are now nearly synonymous across all ages.

We cannot continue to think in generational terms when we have five to seven generations working side by side.
This sort of thinking will tear your organization apart. Try reverse mentoring, where younger hires mentor older hires on the benefits and tactics of social media. Connect, don’t divide.

Diversity leads to better solutions.
The single greatest source of creativity and innovation lies in viewing opportunities and challenges from every possible angle. Rather than think in terms of generational lenses, think in terms of the benefits of combining the experience of the past with the unfettered ambition of the future.

Education no longer has walls.
Open classrooms will allow anyone to educate themselves on anything, at any age. When we wrote The Gen Z Effect, we interviewed middle schoolers who were using 3-D printing to create novel medical devices and prosthetics as well as matures who were starting new careers in their 70s.

Our experiences will be shared online and increasingly through rich virtual reality.
It used to be that generations were defined by shared experiences that couldn’t be effectively reproduced. As we create fully immersive VR experiences online, we will also tear down the walls that limited experiences to just one generation.

With the ability technology gives us to target behaviorally, demographic targeting is quickly becoming a blunt instrument of force.
The single greatest shift in post-generational thinking will be in how we use behavior to identify and even predict preferences, attitudes, and interests.
